murmrrr

Terms

The agreement for using and buying murmrrr, in plain English. By downloading, installing, buying or using murmrrr, you agree to it.

Last updated 4 November 2026.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and the owner of murmrrr, who runs it from England, in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). They cover the murmrrr app, the website at murmrrr.com, the free trial, and any licence you buy. Please read them before you download, install, try, buy or use murmrrr. By doing any of those things, or by ticking the box that says you agree, you accept these terms and our privacy policy.

You need to be at least 13 to use murmrrr. To buy murmrrr you need to be 18 or over; if you're younger, a parent or guardian has to agree to these terms and make the purchase for you.

2. Words we use

3. No account needed

murmrrr doesn't ask you to make an account, and the free trial doesn't ask for your email address. If you buy a plan, your licence key is your proof of purchase, so keep it and your receipt email safe, and don't share the key. If you think someone else is using your key, tell us through the support form and we'll help you move it back to your computer.

4. Your words stay yours

murmrrr turns speech into text on your own computer. Your voice and your words are not sent to us, and we don't store, read, sell or train anything on them. Everything you dictate belongs to you, and you're free to use it however you like.

The only things you send us are what you choose to write in the support form, which we use to reply to you, and the details your computer shares when it starts a free trial, checks your licence key or looks for updates, as set out in the privacy policy.

5. Always check what it types

Speech recognition makes mistakes. murmrrr can mishear or miss words, add punctuation in the wrong place, or type into a different window from the one you meant. Text can look right and still be wrong. Read it before you send, publish, submit or rely on it, and don't use murmrrr on its own for anything where an error could cause harm, such as medical, legal, financial or safety-critical work.

6. Fair use

Use murmrrr lawfully and only for your own dictation. You must not:

If you break these rules, we may switch off your licence key or stop you using murmrrr (see section 13).

7. Your licence to use murmrrr

While you keep to these terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive right to install and use murmrrr on one computer at a time, for as long as your free trial or plan lasts.

Your licence belongs to one person. Each licence you buy is assigned to your email address, and only you may use it. It can't be transferred, sold, lent or given to anyone else, and it can't be moved to a different email address. You can move it to another computer of your own by deactivating it on the old one first, under Settings > About, or at murmrrr.com/licence if you no longer have the old one. You can do this up to 3 times in any 30 days; if you need more, ask through the support form.

The free trial stays on its computer. Its licence only works on the computer that started it. It can't be shared or moved to another computer.

murmrrr checks your licence online about once a day when it can, and needs to reach us at least once every 7 days. Dictation itself never needs the internet, but after 7 days without a check murmrrr pauses until you're back online.

You're getting a right to use murmrrr, not ownership of it. murmrrr updates itself so you always have the latest fixes. Some parts of murmrrr are open-source software made by others, and those parts come with their own licences, which take priority over these terms for those parts.

8. Experimental features

Some features are marked "experimental" or "beta". They're still being tried out, may not work as well as the rest of murmrrr, and may change or be removed. They're off unless you turn them on.

9. Services run by other companies

murmrrr relies on a few other companies: Payhip runs the checkout and issues Lifetime licence keys, Stripe and PayPal process payments, GitHub hosts the downloads, and other providers run the website and deliver our emails, including Monthly and Yearly licence keys. Their own terms apply to what they do. We choose them carefully, but we're not responsible for their services, and if one of them has a problem, parts of murmrrr, such as buying, starting a free trial, activating or updating, may stop working for a while.

10. What belongs to us

The murmrrr name, logo, website, app and code belong to us and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property law. These terms don't give you any rights in them beyond the licence in section 7. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely, without paying you or owing you anything.

murmrrr is made independently. It isn't connected with, approved by or sponsored by any other dictation or speech company. Other product and company names that appear on this site belong to their owners and are only used to identify them, and any comparison with another product is based on what was publicly available when it was written.

11. Price and payment

murmrrr has three plans: Monthly (£5 a month), Yearly (£45 a year) and Lifetime (£100 once). The price is shown on the download page. Prices exclude VAT: any VAT due is added at checkout, where you'll see the full amount before you pay.

Payhip runs the checkout for us. It takes your payment and sends your receipt, and its own terms apply to the payment as well as these. Your licence key arrives by email: from us for Monthly and Yearly, and from Payhip for Lifetime.

The free trial. You can try murmrrr free for 14 days, without a card. You need to be online to start it, and it runs from the moment you start it.

We may change or stop offering the free trial for new users at any time. That doesn't affect a free trial you've already started, unless section 13 applies.

Monthly and Yearly renew automatically. You pay the plan's price at the start of each month or year until you cancel. If a renewal can't be taken and the plan ends, your licence key stops working.

Lifetime. Your licence stays valid for as long as murmrrr continues to trade, including every update we release in that time. If murmrrr stops trading, licences end at that point (see section 13 for the notice we'll give).

Price changes. We may change our prices. If the price of your Monthly or Yearly plan is going up, we'll tell you before it applies, so you can cancel first. A price change never affects a Lifetime licence you've already bought.

12. Cancelling and refunds

Cancelling. You can cancel Monthly or Yearly at any time from your Payhip account, or by asking through the support form. murmrrr keeps working until the end of the time you've paid for, then stops. There's no fee for cancelling.

Our 14-day refund. If murmrrr isn't right for you, ask through the support form within 14 days of your first payment for any plan, and we'll refund it in full, even if you've had the free trial. Renewal payments aren't refunded, except where the law requires it. A refund switches off the licence key it was for.

Your legal rights. murmrrr is digital content, which starts as soon as you activate your licence key. When you buy, you ask for it to start straight away and accept that, under UK law, this ends the separate 14-day right to cancel that would otherwise apply. Our own 14-day refund above still applies. If murmrrr is faulty, isn't as described, or isn't of satisfactory quality, you also have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including a repair, a replacement or some or all of your money back. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.

13. Ending this agreement

You can stop using murmrrr whenever you like, and cancel your plan as described in section 12. A free trial just ends by itself, and there's nothing to cancel.

We may suspend or switch off your licence key, or end your free trial early, after telling you where we reasonably can, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if your use puts us or other people at risk, or if we have to by law. If that happens because you broke these terms, you won't get a refund.

We may also stop offering murmrrr altogether, or stop trading. If we do, we'll give at least 30 days' notice on this website and refund any Monthly or Yearly time you've paid for but won't get. Lifetime licences remain valid until murmrrr stops trading, and end then.

Sections 4, 5 and 10, and sections 14 to 21, keep applying after this agreement ends.

14. What we promise, and what we don't

We'll make murmrrr with reasonable care and skill, and as described on this website. Beyond that, and beyond the rights the law gives you that can't be taken away, murmrrr is provided as it is. We don't promise that it will always be available, be free from errors or interruptions, understand every voice or accent, or work with every app, game, computer or keyboard layout. The free trial is there so you can check it works for you before paying, and our 14-day refund is there in case it still doesn't.

15. Limits on our responsibility

If we break these terms or are careless, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that was a foreseeable result. We're not responsible for loss or damage that wasn't foreseeable, for losses caused by text you didn't check (see section 5), or for problems caused by your own computer, other software, or the services in section 9.

If you use murmrrr for business, we're not responsible for any loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, data or goodwill, or any indirect loss.

Whatever happens, our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid us for murmrrr in the 12 months before the problem arose. The free trial costs nothing and is provided as it is.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.

16. Business use and buying for others

If you buy murmrrr for people at your business, you're responsible for making sure each person keeps to these terms, and anything they do with murmrrr counts as if you'd done it. If you use murmrrr for business and a claim is made against us because of how you used it, in breach of these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.

17. If something goes wrong

If you're unhappy, please tell us first through the support form, explaining what happened and including the email address you bought with. We'll try to put it right within 30 days. If we can't agree, either of us can take the matter to court, as described in section 19.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when murmrrr changes or the law does. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change makes things meaningfully worse for you, we'll put a clear notice on this website before it applies. Changes never apply to anything that happened before they took effect.

19. The law that applies

These terms, and any dispute about them or about murmrrr, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts, and you keep any protection your local consumer law gives you.

We respect other people's work. If you believe something on the murmrrr website or in the app uses your copyright or other rights without permission, tell us through the support form, with enough detail for us to find it and understand your claim, and we'll look into it promptly.
